Truncation
With the help of truncation characters such as *, ?, $, all compositions of a word can be determined during a database search. It is possible to truncate both left and right:
1. Right truncation: A truncation character at the end of the word stem results in all word forms beginning with the corresponding word stem (example: auto* = automobile, autopilot, auto sport, etc.).
2. Left truncation: If the truncation character is at the beginning of the word stem, different word beginnings are searched (example: *school = primary school, secondary school, etc.).
